Did you know up to 500 million women and girls are living each month in period poverty?

What is period poverty?

Period poverty refers to the lack of access to menstrual hygiene products, education, and other tools that allow menstruating women and girls to manage their period with safety and dignity. Many young girls around the world…

  • ... are unable to afford sanitary products

They are often torn between purchasing food or menstrual supplies, and many have been forced to improvise with devices that may be ineffective, unhygienic, and unsafe.

  • ... have poor knowledge of menstruation

In many developing countries, menstruation is a taboo topic and not openly talked about, therefore becoming a confusing and scary experience for young girls.

  • ... end up in an inappropriate relationship

with older men to have their basic hygiene needs met. These relationships can have dire consequences such as sexually transmitted diseases and unplanned pregnancies.

  • ... will miss school

Because they don't have the right menstrual products to manage their period with safety and dignity. Or because of an unwanted pregnancy or polygamous marriage with an older man.

In Loving Memory of Jedidiah Talom

Making your vision come true

Jedidiah Talom was a beautiful, gifted, talented artist and a passionate young girl. She was a senior at Texas A&M University. She and her family immigrated to the USA from Cameroon (Africa) when she was 8 years old. She never had a chance to go back for a visit. Just a few months before her passing, Jedidiah shared with her mom her desire to help underprivileged girls in Africa by providing them with menstrual pads and other toiletries, supporting education, and self-development training. The family was planning for their first trip back to Cameroon upon her graduation. So naturally, Jedidiah was looking forward to it, so she can start her project. But, unfortunately, she left us too soon on September 6, 2019. That’s why her family decided to carry on her project through the Jedidiah Talom Foundation.
